Donald Boom of Albert Lea said he’s been playing the lottery for a long time and he chooses numbers to play. According to a press release, his numbers usually consist of birthdates and anniversaries. On Sept. 16, Boom checked his numbers in the paper and he noticed they looked familiar.

He was very happy to discover that his ticket matched four of five numbers plus the Powerball to win a $50,000 prize from the drawing on Sept. 14. The winning numbers drawn were 10-11-23-28-31 and the Powerball was 14.

Hy-Vee Food Stores, at 2708 Bridge Ave. in Albert Lea, sold the winning ticket.
