Man dead after police-involved shooting

BURNSVILLE — Police in Burnsville said a man has died in an officer-involved shooting.
Police said the man, who was reported as suicidal, left an apartment complex with a gun around 8:25 p.m. Monday. According to a press release, State Patrol helicopter detected someone about an hour later in a tree line near the complex.
A police statement said officers approaching on foot saw the man had a firearm, and “a Burnsville officer fired shots and the individual is deceased.” No officers were hurt.
The shooting is being investigated by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
