Waseca man charged with criminal sexual conduct in Freeborn County

A Waseca man who allegedly sexually abused a girl last weekend in Freeborn County was charged with multiple felonies Tuesday in Freeborn County District Court.

Brandon Lee Boyum, 34, was charged with and pleaded not guilty later that day to one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Boyum allegedly took pictures of and engaged in sexual penetration and contact with an 11-year-old girl Saturday night, according to court records.

District Court Judge Ross Leuning set conditional bail at $50,000.
A settlement conference is scheduled for Oct. 26, and a jury trial is scheduled for March 14, if the case has not been settled by then.

First-degree criminal sexual conduct carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a $40,000 fine. Second-degree criminal sexual conduct carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison and a $35,000 fine.
