April Harmdierks, 1975-2016

Funeral services for April will be at 4 p.m. Friday at New Life Christian Church, 1705 Marshall St. in Albert Lea. The Rev. Michael Gerhardt will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, 2210 E. Main St. in Albert Lea, and again one hour prior to the service at church.

April Marie (Tasker) Harmdierks passed away Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at Owatonna Homestead Hospice House. She was 41.

April was born Jan. 3, 1975, to Robert and Debra (Weitzel) Tasker. She grew up in Albert Lea, and attended Albert Lea High School and went on to earn her nursing assistant degree from NIACC. She lived in the Albert Lea area and surrounding communities, working in various nursing homes and the hospital. She was a baptized member at New Life Christian Church, formerly known as Church of Christ in Albert Lea.

In her free time, April enjoyed drawing, reading poetry and watching movies. Her favorite movie was Nicholas Sparks’ “The Notebook,” because of how romantic it is. April was compassionate and loving. She cared deeply for the nursing home residents; it gave her great joy. Most of all, she loved her children and being with her family. Her mother, Deb, was her best friend.

Survivors include her children Alexis Tasker and Noah Tasker Alvarez; parents Deb Schewe and Robert Tasker; grandma, Beverly Weitzel; sister, Amber Tasker; nieces Zoe and Zana Tripp; nephew, Damian Buckley; uncles Rick (Kellie) Weitzel and Jay Weitzel; aunts Vicky (Rod) Schewe and Lori (Rod) Coleman; lifelong best friend, Kirsten Novak Holmseth; as well as many other relatives and friends.

April was preceded in death by her grandma and grandpa Robert and Betty Tasker; great-grandma, Lillie Eggum; stepdad, Kevin Schewe; and an aunt, Linda Holstad.

Memorials are preferred to April’s family.
