Funeral services for Lorene Rietsema, 78, of Hollandale will be at 11 a.m. Monday, at Hollandale Christian Reformed Church. The Rev. Wendell Davelaar will officiate. Interment will be at Hollandale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Lorene died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, at her home.

Lorene Rietsema was born July 21, 1938, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Herman and Stientje “Tena” (Lewerke) Van Meekeren. She attended schools in Hayward, Hollandale Christian School and Albert Lea. On July 26, 1956, Lorene was united in marriage to Albert Rietsema in Hollandale. She was a member of Hollandale Christian Reformed Church. Lorene enjoyed fishing, crafts, gardening, woodworking, farming and traveling. She volunteered at the Hollandale Christian School.

Lorene is survived by her children Chuck and his wife, Marcia Rietsema, of Albert Lea, Ron and his wife, Lyne Rietsema, of Hollandale, Roger Rietsema of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Cindy and her husband, Tom Steinkamp, of Spencer, Iowa; grandchildren Aaron and wife, Carrie Rietsema, Kristen and her husband, Christopher DeBerg, David Rietsema, Rachel and her husband, Matt Loverink, Sara Rietsema, Rebecca and her husband, Jesse Shelbourn, Rochelle Knutson, Casey Rietsema, Riley Rietsema, Lincoln Rietsema, Tyler and his wife, Lindsey Steinkamp, Cody Steinkamp and Ryan Steinkamp; great-grandchildren Marie, Luke, Jack, Will, Evelyn, Harrison, Gwenyth, Jolie, Timothy, Payden, Lukas, Beau and Claire; siblings Alice Doorlag, Bertha Koetje, Tena Van Kampen, Pete Van Meekeren and Jane Meelker.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert; and brother, Bill VanMeekeren.
