New officers installed at SCORE meeting

South Central Minnesota SCORE Chapter No. 710 had its annual meeting Oct. 19.
Five year service awards were presented to Richard Kary, Steven Olsen, Keith Fligge and Pete Johnson during the event. According to a press release, the organization appreciates the time and expertise these individuals have brought to the work of SCORE and look forward to working with them for many more years.
Jerry Monson was named an honorary member for his efforts as a primary organizer of the SCORE presence in the area.
Tim Penny, president and CEO of the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation, gave the keynote address which was focused on the economy of the area and the work of the SMIF to foster and sustain the economic well-being of southern Minnesota.
Initiation of officers was conducted by SCORE Minnesota District 508 Director Rick Barkley. Officers for the 2017 fiscal year will be Sharon West, president; Gary Schott, vice president; Jerry Carstensen, secretary; and Jim Brunner, treasurer.
Barkley presented the membership with the honor of being the recipient of the District Chapter of the Year Award. Chapter No. 710 showed increased activity, growth, mentoring and outreach to achieve the award.
The meeting concluded with a recap of the past year’s accomplishments.
SCORE is a nonprofit association supported by the United States Small Business Administration with the goal of providing no cost, confidential mentoring by experienced volunteers to aspiring new business owners and to existing businesses.
