A week after it looked like its offense was back on track, the NRHEG Panthers struggled to score points against Maple River.

The end result? A 13-12 overtime loss in the last regular season game of 2016.

The Panthers scored late and decided to go for two points and the win on the road.

“This was the second straight year we lost going for two in overtime,” said Panthers coach Dan Stork.

Panthers’ quarterback Sam Prigge threw for 122 yards and two touchdowns, but running back Perry Peterson was held to 28 rushing yards.

“I’m proud of how we played,” Stork said. “This team has no quit in them and held their own against a much bigger (Maple River) team.”

Down 13-6, Prigge found Peterson for a 10-yard touchdown. On the ensuing play, Prigge’s two-point pass fell incomplete.

The Panthers finished the season with a record of 6-2.
