Farmers State Bank welcomes new staff

Farmers State Bank of Hartland has announced that Jan Hoium recently joined the Albert Lea staff.

As a lifelong resident of Freeborn County, Hoium comes to FSB with lots of great local experience, according to a press release. She has 22 years of history in the banking industry and 18 years at a local employee benefit firm. Jan and her husband, Craig, are active members of the community. In their spare time they enjoy spending time with their two granddaughters, walking their dog, Bandit, reading and Corvette cruises. Hoium will be assisting in customer service as well as opening new accounts. She is excited and proud to be a member of theFarmers State Bank team and is looking forward to meeting and serving FSB customers.

The bank also announces the promotion of Jessica Tomschin to the position of consumer loan officer/marketing director. Tomschin is a Freeborn County native and a graduate of University of Minnesota at Duluth; and is well known to Farmers State Bank customers as she has been working as a customer service representative at the Albert Lea location since 2012. In 2014 she also took on the role of marketing director. Now she will be able to assist customers with their consumer loan and home equity lending needs. Jessica is married to Brad and lives in Alden, she can frequently be seen on the golf course and attending Gopher basketball games with her family.

“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to bring Jan into our FSB family,” Daniel Otten, the bank’s CEO and chairman said. “Jan brings a lot of familiarity with the community, which makes it very exciting for us as well as Jan, I think she is happy being back in the front line of banking.”

“Jessica is a talented employee and wanted to expand her horizons into the lending field, we think she will do a great job as a consumer lender,” he continued. “Deb Kenison, who had been doing consumer lending with FSB since 2004, will now focus primarily on opening new deposit accounts and continue providing excellent service to our consumer and business depositors. Farmers State Bank of Hartland is a Community Owned, Community Focused bank that originated in Hartland in 1912. FSB operates three branches, in Hartland, Freeborn and Albert Lea. Since opening the Albert Lea Branch in 2004, FSB has grown in asset size from $45 million to over $125 million, and has become one of the county’s largest community banks.

The bank’s growth has been primarily with ag and commercial customers but since 2013 they have expanded their residential lending program, and now offer a full range of banking products.
