Funeral services for Sylvia M. Kycek, 91, of Hayward will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Sylvia died Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.

Sylvia Marie Kycek was born Aug. 24, 1925, in Myrtle, the daughter of William and Betty (Slave´ck) Jilek. She grew up in Myrtle and graduated from Albert Lea High School.

On June 3, 1945, Sylvia married Ernest Kycek. She was a member of Hayward Lutheran Church, ZCBJ Lodge No. 44, Greenwood Cemetery Association and Hayward Garden Club. She enjoyed baking, birdwatching, gardening and collecting teddy bears. She also loved getting together with family and friends and entertaining.

Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Judy Kycek Nishimura (partner, Steve Marcuson); grandchildren Adam Nishimura of Seattle and Cassie Nishimura of Owatonna; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents Betty and William Jilek; sister, Violet Jilek Kycek; husband, Ernest; and many brothers and sisters-in- law.

Memorials are preferred to ZCBJ Lodge No. 44, Greenwood Cemetery Board or Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.
