The Alden-Conger girls’ basketball team was looking to stretch its win streak to three games. For the Knights to do that, they needed to beat a Martin County West team that had yet to lose.

Alden-Conger did everything it could to hang with Martin County West, but was just unable to overcome a five-point halftime deficit to lose, 58-48.

Sophomore Erika Bute poured in 23 points and six steals and Kelsey Newman added 13 points for the Knights in the loss.

The loss snapped a two-game winning streak and sent the Knights back to the .500 mark (2-2).

Alden-Conger will look to get back on track when it hosts Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Thursday.
