According to a press release, Albert Lea Community Theatre announces auditions will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 and 9 for the drama “Twelve Angry Jurors” at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center, 147 N. Broadway in Albert Lea.
Directed by Kris Bartley, eight performances of the classic drama are scheduled for March 2−11. There are 12 male and female acting roles of various adult ages in the show.
Those auditioning should be prepared to read from the script. Rehearsals will be scheduled weeknights, with some weekend involvement closer to the performance dates.
Adapted by Sherman L. Sergel from the Emmy Award-winning television movie by Reginald Rose, the story begins as a 19-year-old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father.
“He doesn’t stand a chance,” mutters the guard, as the 12 jurors are taken into the bleak jury room. It looks like an open-and- shut case — until one of the jurors begins opening the others’ eyes to the facts.
Tickets may be purchased at actonbroadway.com or at the box office, which opens Monday the week of the show’s opening and is also open from 4 to 6 p.m. every Thursday.
