Carol Anderson, 1925-2016

Carol Ruth (Carter) Anderson, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community in Albert Lea. She was 91. Memorial services for Carol will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Shane Koepke will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.

Carol was born May 28, 1925, to parents Earl and Ruth Ann (Fesenmeyer) Carter in Milwaukee. She attended Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing, graduating with a degree as a registered nurse. Carol married the love of her life, Russell Anderson, on June 12, 1946, in Minneapolis.They made their home in Albert Lea for the last 70 years and were members of Grace Lutheran Church since it began as a Quonset hut.

Carol was a nurse at Naeve Hospital for many years and was a night supervisor. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, needlework and baking. She was famous for her delicious Christmas sugar cookies. Carol remained extremely active up until her final days — even baking her family one last round of those wonderful Christmas cookies. She lived her life to take care of others and most importantly to be there for her husband, Russell. She will be greatly missed by her family.

Survivors include her husband, Russell Anderson; children Deborah (Peter) Deem of Colorado, Dave (Peggy) Anderson of Albert Lea and Scott Anderson of Colorado; grandchildren Jennifer (Richard) Pacher of Colorado, Chad Anderson of Colorado, Amy (Troy) Kuskie of Colorado and Kari Matson (fiancé, Randy Buscovick) of Albert Lea; great-grandchildren Alexandra Pacher, Brooke Swanson (fiancé, Ty Lerum), Luke Matson and Bryce Anderson; and half brother, Noel Johnsen of Grand Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents and half brother, George Johnsen.

Memorials preferred to Youth for Christ and Good Earth Village.
