After falling victim to Bishop Garrigan last week, the Lake Mills girls’ basketball team rebounded in a big way against a tough Central Springs team Monday night.
The Bulldogs used a 20-point fourth quarter to turn their one-point lead into an 11-point win, 62-51.
Jewell Gasteiger paced the Bulldogs with 25 points, leading three players in double figures in the scoring column. Laura Knudtson scored 14 points, Teah Kesler added 12 and Lexi Groe finished one point away from a double-double — nine points and 11 rebounds.
“We started strong, but let a good (Central Springs) team hang around,” Bulldogs coach Thad Evans said. “They got the better of us in the third quarter. But we took back the momentum when (Lexi Groe) hit a buzzer-beating three at the end of the quarter. That gave us a spark.”
Lake Mills outscored Central Springs 20-10 over the final eight minutes.
Central Springs got 23 points from Kaylee Parks in the loss.
Lake Mills is now 5-1 on the season and is averaging 70.1 points per game.
Lake Mills will play Dec. 20 on the road at Eagle Grove.
