Rosemary S. Hughes passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016. She touched many lives with her gracious spirit and quick-witted nature.
Rosemary was born April 20, 1940, in Albert Lea to Bill and Izola Donovan. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and attended Mankato State University. She married Richard “Dick” Hughes on Oct. 19, 1963. They moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Chicago before settling in Oklahoma City in 1970.
Rosemary enjoyed a 25-year career working for UPS in the accounting department. She loved spending time with friends and family — especially her long-awaited grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, “Nana,” aunt and sister. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, reading and going to the casino.
Summer vacations were spent with family in her hometown of Albert Lea, where she attended the Freeborn County Fair for 50 consecutive years.
Rosemary is survived by her loving husband, Richard; daughters Lana Maxwell (Damon) and Lynn Hostmyer (Mike); grandchildren Lindsey Maxwell and Lane Hostmyer; brother, Butch Donovan (Judi); and many relatives and friends. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved and will be missed by many.
A special thank you to Alma DeOme, Joalane Mokone, Brenda Ddamba, Darsi Landsberger, Kay Bendickson and Aspire Hospice.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Vondel L. Smith and Son North Colonial Chapel, 13125 N. MacArthur Boulevard in Oklahoma City, with interment to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
