Albert Lea High School mock trial team heads to championship

The Albert Lea mock trial team competed in the Region 6 playoffs on Wednesday at Brown County Courthouse in New Ulm, according to a press release.
Albert Lea, the third seed in Region 6, avenged an earlier loss to the defending region champions from St. Peter High School. Albert Lea defeated St. Peter 225-219 to earn a birth in the Region 6 championship on Thursday. Albert Lea will face the top seeded team from Maple River with the winner advancing to the Minnesota State Mock Trial Championships March 3-4 in St. Cloud.
“It’s an honor to be able to represent Albert Lea in the Region 6 championship,” said Albert Lea coach Neil Chalmers. “The kids and I are very excited for this opportunity.”
The mock trial team said it would like to thank the staff in the Freeborn County Court Administrators office for allowing the team to practice at the Freeborn County Courthouse.
