Employees were evacuated briefly Friday morning after a fire began at Lou-Rich, 505 W. Front St. in Albert Lea.

The fire inside the manufacturing plant was reported at around 10:30 a.m. and was extinguished by about 10:45 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

The fire reportedly started when dry filters warmed, said Albert Lea Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Laskowske. Damage was limited to the filters, he said.

Almco employee Dustin Petersen remembered walking with two coworkers during break time and smelling burning rubber, he said.

“We weren’t back in the office for two minutes before the alarm sounded,” he said.

Almco offices are in an adjoining building to Lou-Rich. Almco and Lou-Rich are subsidiaries of Innovance.
