Tigers roll on Senior Night

Saturday night was Senior Night for seven players on the Albert Lea boys’ hockey team.

But it was a host of other Tigers who helped the seniors have a successful night, as Albert Lea throttled Winona, 8-1.

Albert Lea scored three goals in the first period and added five more in the second period.

Alex Goodmanson scored two goals and seven Albert Lea players scored a goal while 10 players registered a point for the Tigers.

Noah Karge, Mitchell Evans, Bergan Lundak, Austin Dulitz, Cole Wetzel and Logan Stadheim also scored goals for Albert Lea.

Lundak got the Tigers on the board just 1:06 into the game. One minute later, Karge gave Albert Lea a 2-0 lead as he smashed a shot by Winona goalie Alex Benson.

Winona got on the board in the second period when it got a goal from Justin Waldera. But the Tigers kept the pressure on. Albert Lea responded with three goals in exactly two minutes.

Albert Lea goaltender Ben Witham faced only 13 shots, making 12 saves.

The Tigers are just a game under the .500 mark now (10-11-1) and are in eighth place in the Big Nine Conference with 17 points.

Albert Lea will have a chance to tie Rochester John Marshall in the points category when the two teams matchup in Rochester on Tuesday. John Marshall has 19 points.
