Shop owner loves freedom of motorcycles

Q: What is your name, position and residence?

A: Mike Owens, owner and operator of Lewis Charles Cycles, Albert Lea

Q: What interests you about motorcycles?

What first got me into motorcycles was of course riding them and the freedom they give you. Now, working on them and selling them — it’s like selling fun. Everyone is always so happy and excited about the riding experience!

Q: What is your favorite car make and model?

A: I know if you ask Dusty — the master tech at the shop — he would say Camaro, hands down. As for me, I’d go the vintage rat rod direction. We built our shop truck — 1964 C10 Chevy — this winter, so that’s my favorite right now!

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: Being open for almost two years now and not having the same day twice. Between working on motorcycles and customer interactions, it has been great!

Q: Have you always wanted to work on motorcycles? Why or why not?

A: It seems my hobby and love for motorcycles has always led me in this direction. It never felt like a job.

Q: What is your favorite memory working with motorcycles?

A: In this industry you meet a lot of great people. I have been blessed with some great friends due to motorcycles!

Q: Where did you grow up?

A: I grew up in Lake Crystal, a small town by Mankato.

Q: What are your hobbies?

Besides riding motorcycles whenever I get the chance, I enjoy snowboarding and snowmobiling in the winters. Hanging out with friends and family on the lake in the summer.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: Seems we don’t have much time to eat anymore, so if it’s warm, I’ll take it. I’m not too picky.

Q: What is your favorite movie?

A: My wife and I enjoy watching different series online. Right now it’s “Homeland.”
