Leslie Myers, 40, pleaded guilty in January in district court in Forest City to one count of felony second-degree sexual abuse.

He was accused of committing sex acts on a girl younger than 12 multiple times in a 12-month period ending in August 2016, according to court documents.

Prosecutors agreed to dismiss five additional sex abuse charges in the case in exchange for the guilty plea.

Myers must serve 17 years and six months in prison before being eligible for parole.

When he is released from prison he will be under lifetime supervision by the Iowa Department of Corrections, with eligibility for parole. Myers also must register as a sex offender for the duration of his post-prison supervision.

He was ordered to pay $2,224 restitution to the state’s Crime Victim Compensation program, in addition to other costs and fees.
