St. Casimir’s School will host the school’s largest fundraiser, Celebrate with the Saints, on Saturday.

Parents spend years helping their children discover who they are by developing their talents and gifts.

For some families, sports will be a priority, some choose the arts, while others focus on academics. However, for some families the focus is to pass on their values and morals to their children through a Christ-centered education.

According to a press release, St. Casimir’s School in Wells is an ideal setting to assist parents in encompassing all four areas.

“SCS provides a safe place for my child that’s centered on Christianity and teaches her to serve others with respect and dignity,” school parent Coleman Bushlack said.

St. Casimir’s School first opened  in 1915. A group of devoted families, led by the Rev. John Mikolai, worked to raise the necessary funds to create a school that would offer a Catholic education for students.

Following the population trends of the community, student enrollment at the school has risen and fallen over the years.

School staff said one thing has not changed — there has always been a group of volunteer supporters working to continue the school’s success. One such group is the committee organizing this year’s Celebrate with the Saints event.

Members of this committee have been meeting since last fall preparing for this community gathering and they are now ready to celebrate in what has become the largest fundraiser for the school.

This year’s Celebrate with the Saints is scheduled for Saturday in The Raimann Family Gymnasium at St. Casimir’s School.

The doors will open at 5 p.m. for an all-you-can-eat meal of chicken sandwiches, sloppy joes, mashed potatoes, corn, oriental salad, beverage and a build-your-own ice cream sundae.

There will also be a silent auction containing a wide selection of items for Mother’s Day, graduation and special occasion.

While placing silent bids, guests may want to take a spin on the new Wheel of Wine. The wheel will offer a selection of over 100 local varieties as well as those from across the country. Every spin wins a bottle.

A live auction, led by  auctioneer Lee Schumann, will begin at 7 p.m. According to a press release, the auction will feature large assortment of items, including a Phillips 55 inch Smart TV, wildlife prints, electric scooter, yard Jenga customized by St. Casimir students and alumni, 24 tons of crushed rock and homemade bread for a year, among others.

Immediately following the live auction, a raffle drawing will offer a range of cash prizes with a top prize of $500.

“What better reason to celebrate than by supporting the opportunity for our children to pray and learn about God while also receiving a top-notch education?” St. Casimir’s School Principal Joanne Tibodeau said. “This alone is worth celebrating.”
