The documentary “A Simpler Way: Crisis as an Opportunity” will be shown at 7 p.m. today at the Freeborn County Arts Initiative. The free event is open to the public.

According to a press release, the documentary takes viewers to a community where residents have fully embraced the notion of a simpler existence far from the maddening crowds and stress-inducing cityscapes. Part of a yearlong experiment, the inhabitants of the town all share a common commitment to social change and environmental preservation.
