North Central Iowa Genealogical Society will host its next meeting at 1:30 p.m. May 13 in the lower level meeting room at Clear Lake Public Library, 200 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake, according to a press release. The meeting is free and open to the public.

The subject of the meeting will be the use of plat books in genealogy. Plat books are atlases that detail rural land ownership. Within the plat books are individual maps, drawn to scale. The maps generally feature one township per page and are usually organized by county.
