As of Sept. 30, 2016, 128 youth and 45 adults participate in the scouting program in Freeborn County, and 90 youth have participated in at least one of the camping programs. In addition, 35 Cub Scouts have advanced in rank, four Boy Scouts have obtained the rank of Eagle Scout and 48 merit badges have been earned. Service is an important part of the Scouting program. In 2016, 3,800 pounds of food was collected in Freeborn County by Boy Scouts to fill local food pantries.

For 106 years, scouting has instilled the values found in the Scouts oath and law in young people and making a positive impact on communities, the state and the nation. Tufts University last year released a study conducted over the past three years on that impact. The results show scouting makes a difference.
