Riverland celebrates students, donors

The Riverland Community College Foundation recently hosted its Evening of Excellence scholarship ceremony, bringing together more than 450 students, donors, family, friends and Riverland employees to celebrate students receiving scholarships during the 2016-17 academic year, according to a press release. 

To date this year, the Riverland Community College Foundation has awarded 500 scholarships valued at more than $470,000 to Riverland students. These funds are sponsored by the local individuals, organizations and businesses.

“More than 150 students walked across the stage to shake the hand of Riverland President Adenuga Atewologun and receive their scholarship certificate,” said Steve Bowron, dean of advancement for Riverland.

The Foundation’s goal with this event is  to acknowledge the students’ achievement and the generosity of our many donors.

Steve Waldhoff, president of the Riverland Community College Foundation, presented the 2017 Distinguished Benefactor of the Year awards to acknowledge individuals, businesses and organizations for their long-term commitment to support Riverland students and programs through generous donations of time and resources.

Those recognized at the event included Belita Schindler, 2017 Distinguished Individual Benefactor; PEO Chapter CU, 2017 Distinguished Organization Benefactor; and Freeborn-Mower Cooperative,  2017 Distinguished Business Benefactor.
