Gary Seedorf, 75, formerly of Albert Lea, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 23, 2017, after a long illness with Alzheimer’s.

Gary was baptized and confirmed at Mansfield Lutheran Church in Kiester and a graduate of Alden High School in 1959. Gary married Sharon Larson in 1963 and after a few years in California, Gary and family moved back to Albert Lea, where Gary started his career driving truck. In 1974, he moved to his dream home, a farm outside of Blooming Prairie. Gary continued to drive truck and farm until his retirement.

When Gary was not busy farming or driving truck, he enjoyed projects around the farm, fishing, snowmobiling and most any outdoor activity. As a legacy for his grandchildren, Gary was proudest of improving a piece of infertile crop land into a wooded recreation area with 9,000 seedling trees.

Gary was devoted to spending time with his five grandchildren and creating specials moments which each one.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Erma (Tiede) Seedorf; and one grandson, Tyler Behnken.

Gary is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon (Larson) Seedorf, of Woodbury; son, Brian (Julie) Seedorf, of Savage; daughter, Ann (Jay) Behnken, of Woodbury; one granddaughter, Hannah Behnken; four grandsons Jack and Griffin Seedorf and Jacob and Adam Behnken; brother-in-law, Roger (Gabina) Larson, sister-in-law, Becky (Jim) Cox; and several nephews and nieces.

Celebration of life and faith services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 9925 Bailey Road, Woodbury, MN 55129. The Rev. Paul Dean will officiate. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and friends are invited to stay for refreshments and story sharing following the service.
