The Cannon Valley Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. May 18 at Faribault Senior Center, 19 W. Division St. in Faribault, according to a press release. There will be questions and answers with decaffeinated coffee and  dessert after the presentation.

The presenter for the evening is a former paratrooper and infantryman. John Haymond, retired United States Army, has a master’s of science degree in conflict history. He is also an accomplished author. Haymond will speak about the United States/Dakota Conflict trials. Some trials lasted as long as 15 minutes with 306 getting the death by hanging sentence.

Haymond is the Mower County Historical Society executive director and is a college professor.
