Salvation Army hopes to ‘keep on serving’

As needs increase, The Salvation Army is hoping to increase its serving ability with a fundraising campaign to maintain ongoing emergency service programs that encourage and support families in need in Freeborn County, according to a press release.
“No matter what season it is, the unfortunate are looking for help,” said Maj. Elsie Cline, associate corps. officer of the Albert Lea Citadel. “The homeless still need a safe place to sleep, and parents struggling to make ends meet still need help with overwhelming rent and utility payments. The generous blessings of our community let us say ‘yes’ when people are most afraid of hearing no.’”
Last year, The Salvation Army shared the community’s generosity with more than 1,104 individuals who had nowhere else to turn in tough times. This year, the organization is expecting to face even more need.
To help with the Keep on Serving fundraiser, call The Salvation Army at 507-373-8776, send or drop off donations at 302 Court St. or visit the Albert Lea Hy-Vee store from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. The campaign will end May 19.
