Sentencing for Boyum is scheduled for July 6.

Court documents state Boyum was charged after he took pictures of and engaged in sexual penetration and contact with an 11-year-old girl Sep. 10.

First-degree criminal sexual conduct carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a $40,000 fine.

Boyum is also charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct, but that charge is expected to be dismissed at sentencing.

Assistant Freeborn County Attorney Jennifer Clements said Boyum’s presumptive sentence is 12 years in prison, with a possible range of 12 years to more than 14 years in prison. She said lawyer Jeremy Clinefelter indicated he would seek a dispositional departure at sentencing.
