After losing three close games in pool play to begin the Albert Lea Baseball Classic played June 16-18, the Albert Lea 11A boys’ traveling baseball team knocked off the No. 1 seeded New Ulm team 7 -3 that landed them in the championship game against Minnetonka White. Strong pitching from the Minnetonka White team was too much to overcome in the finals and the Albert Lea team lost 13-3 to capture second place. With the second place finish, the team qualifies for the Gopher State Tournament of Champions to be held in Farmington July 28-30.
