Roberta Loberg, 1919-2017

Roberta Mary Kelly Loberg  (nee McCormick) of Chanhassen was born Aug. 17, 1919,  in Tracy.

She died Thursday, July 20, 2017, in Chanhassen. She was 97 years, 11 months and 3 days old.

She is survived by children Kathy (Larry) Schroeder of Chanhassen, Bob (Barb) Kelly of Kalispell, Montana, and Mike (Deb) Kelly of Kalispell; grandchildren Jacqueline Corkle of Medina, Dana Kelly of San Francisco, Jillian Kelly Rowe (Bob) of Seattle and Bridget Kelly (Brian) of Washington, D.C.; sibling, Jim McCormick (Margaret Ann), of Daytona Beach, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by parents Robert M. McCormick and Stella J. (Tweet) McCormick; spouses Richard D. Kelly on Sept. 4, 1973, and Otto P. Loberg on April 11, 1998; and siblings Aisleen DeBlieck, Jean Baker, Thomas McCormick, Thelma Pollard and Mary Ellen Wyatt.

Roberta was a devout Catholic and active in her church guild, as well as sewing for children’s missions.  She was an excellent seamstress and baker, and will be remembered for her superb sticky rolls. Her children said, “Mom was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and loved her Irish and Norwegian heritage. Uff da!”

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 8201 Main St. in Chanhassen (phone number is 952-934-9106).

Visitation will take place for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. A reception will follow the service. Private family interment will be at St. Theodore Catholic Church Cemetery in Albert Lea. Memorials are preferred. Arrangements are being handled by Huber Funeral Homes Excelsior Chapel.
