According to a press release, Rep. Peggy Bennett, R-Albert Lea, encourages families, constituents and Minnesotans to attend the Minnesota State Capitol Grand Opening Celebration from Friday to Sunday in St. Paul. The event is a celebration of the completion of a four-year restoration and renovation of Minnesota’s historic State Capitol building.

“The updated Capitol is simple breathtaking, and I’m thrilled the state is holding this celebration to let all come and enjoy the beauty,” Bennett said. “This building is a real treasure for our state. If you haven’t had a chance to visit the renovated Capitol, I encourage you to consider attending the celebration Aug. 11 through Aug. 13; it will be fun for the entire family.”

Events over the weekend include a ribbon cutting, tours, hotdish panels, live performances, a children’s zone, fireworks, ice cream social, craft beer garden and more.
