Memorial services for Neil Richard Johnson, 58, of Alden will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church. The Rev. Greg Ofsdahl will officiate. Interment will be at Alden Cemetery. Neil peacefully lost his battle to cancer on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017. He passed at his home in Alden surrounded by his wife, Candy, and two daughters, Mackenzie and Kacey.

He was born May 6, 1959, to Robert and Harriet Johnson of Freeborn. Neil graduated from Freeborn High School, where he enjoyed sports and being on the farm.

He later married Candy (Carlson) of Alden. The couple was blessed with two beautiful daughters who became his pride and joy.

Neil stayed busy working as a ceramic tile setter. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, watching Minnesota sports and being with his girls showing cattle.

He was adored by his family and friends for his kind heart and diligent work ethic.

Neil is survived by his wife, Candy; daughters Mackenzie and Kacey Johnson; his mother and father, Robert and Harriet Johnson; mother-in-law, Barbara Carlson; brother, Mark (Gail) Johnson; brothers-in-law Cory (Amy) Carlson and Cody Carlson; nieces and nephews Chance (Brittany) Carlson, Cassidy (Paige) Carlson and Colten Carlson, Trent Johnson, Danielle (Dan) Johnson and Karen Carlson; sisters Nanette (Wayne) Hendrickson, Candace (Steve) Sorensen; nephews and niece Matthew (Jenny) Hendrickson, Brent Hendrickson and Amy (Kory) Newman; and many family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Kenneth Carlson; grandparents; and dear friends.

Memorials are preferred to Redeemer Lutheran Church Property Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice.
