Women Veterans
of Freeborn County

The regularly scheduled meeting of the Women Veterans of Freeborn County was Aug. 7 at American Legion Post 56 in Albert Lea.

Women veterans present included Judi Olson, Julie Hamson, Deanna Luedtke, Ruth Perry, Joan Paczkowski, Pat Johannsen and Sandy Maiden.

The treasurer’s report was given. There were no changes from the previous month.

Luedtke reported she obtained the contact information for all the surrounding VSOs and will try to contact them all this month.

Maiden made a motion to see if the group could participate in the 100th anniversary parade from Aug. 22 to Aug. 24, 2018, in Minneapolis. The motion was seconded by Olson. The group will bring it up at the fall luncheon on Oct. 14 in Apply Valley.

The group enjoyed two different pictures of Perry participating at Oak Park Place.

Maiden will check on including the group in service club listings. She is authorized to donate up to $10 if there is a small fee charged.

Luedtke discussed a few articles with the group.

Olson volunteered to take food donations to the pantry.

The Women Veterans of Freeborn County meet at 11:30 a.m. at American Legion Post 56 on the first Wednesday of every month. The group encourages all women military veterans to join the group for an informal lunch, discussion and camaraderie. The next meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 6 at the American Legion.
