Shirley Wright, 1926-2017

Shirley Mavis Wright, 91, of Alden died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community in Albert Lea. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. The Rev. Greg Ofsdahl will officiate. Interment will take place at Alden Cemetery. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting the family. Shirley Wright

Shirley was born July 24, 1926, in Freeborn County, the daughter of Melvin and Hazel (Fink) Schmidt.

She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Wayne Wright, on Sept. 8, 1946, in Alden. To this union two children were born. They had a loving marriage for 50 wonderful years. They worked in partnership together, owning and operating the Alden Advance for over 40 years. She enjoyed playing in bridge and tripoley clubs. Her family was very important to her, and she especially loved seeing all of her great-grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her children Terry (Paul) Hecker of Norristown, Pennsylvania, and Robert Wright of Eyota; nine grandchildren, Tim (Cindy) Quinn of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Deirdre (Patrick) Lindsay of Ambler, Pennsylvania, Erin (Carrie) Alexander-Quinn of Norristown, Melanie (Anthony) Propst of Norristown, Amy (Brady) Wright-Bellard of Mills River, North Carolina, Katie (Bradley) Miller of Candler, North Carolina, and Sally Wright (special friend, Connie) of Minneapolis and Trevor, and Travis Roberts of Hudson, Wisconsin; great-grandchildren Tucker and Abby Quinn, Alexia and Sienna Lindsay, Declyn Alexander-Quinn, Ariyah Propst, Jaden and Amelia, Collin, Kayle, Luke and Maddox Miller; and niece, Merry (David) Milverstedt.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; sister, Beverly Meyers; and brother-in-law, Leo Meyers.
