Editorial: Showcase your Homecoming week spirit

It’s Homecoming week for three school districts in the area, and we’d like to encourage you to get out and show support for our community’s students.

Whether you’re a student, a parent or another community member in the Albert Lea, Glenville-Emmons or Alden-Conger school districts, there are many ways to get involved.

If you have a child in preschool, elementary school, middle school or high school, each grade typically celebrates this fun week of the year. Help your child get into the spirit with the various dress-up days at school.

In Albert Lea, there are also several other festivities to enjoy — whether it’s the parade, sporting events or Homecoming coronation.

The parade will take place at 4:30 p.m. Friday on Hammer Road, followed by the football game at 7 p.m. against Tri-City United. This is a new day and location for the parade compared to recent years, when it has been downtown on Broadway.

Other Albert Lea sports highlights were a girls’ swim and dive meet on Tuesday and a boys’ varsity soccer game at 7 p.m. Thursday against Austin.

The Glenville-Emmons/Alden-Conger football team will face off at 7 p.m. Friday against Madelia.
