Man charged with criminal sexual conduct

A Hartland man who allegedly sexually abused a teenage girl he knew this month was charged on Monday in Freeborn County District Court.

Dennis James Posey, 52, is charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Court documents state Posey was charged after he sexually assaulted the girl last week over a three-day period.

District Court Judge Ross Leuning set conditional bail at $50,000. Posey was in custody as of Monday afternoon.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 26.

First-degree criminal sexual conduct carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a $40,000 fine, with a mandatory minimum 12-year prison sentence.
