Podiatrist joins Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea

Sara Vande Kieft, D.P.M., recently joined the team of podiatric providers at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, according to a press release. She has been with Mayo Clinic Health System for over 19 years and also sees patients in Austin and Cannon Falls. Vande Kieft joins Nathan Sanders, D.P.M., to provide foot and ankle care for patients of all ages.

Vande Kieft earned her medical degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. She completed residency through Park Lane Medical center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Vande Kieft provides medical and surgical treatment for many foot and ankle issues. She works with patients who have sprains and fractures from daily and sports activities. She frequently sees patients with bunions, hammer toes, arthritic conditions, plantar fasciitis, and flat feet.  She also treats various skin conditions around the foot and ankle including lesions, wounds, rashes, and infections. Vande Kieft works with many patients who have foot problems related to diabetes and other complex medical conditions.

“I am looking forward to joining the Albert Lea team to improve accessibility to specialty podiatry care and expanding our services,” Vande Kieft said.

“We routinely evaluate the services we offer in our communities, and we’re excited to be able to increase our access in podiatry in Albert Lea,” said Sumit Bhagra, M.D., medical director of Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin and Albert Lea.

Vande Kieft will see patients on Thursday afternoons in Albert Lea. She will also continue to be available to see patients at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin and Cannon Falls.

Vande Kieft and her husband enjoy cheering on their four children at their sporting events.
