TOPS MN Chapter 979

The TOPS MN Chapter 979 has announced its September and October division winners.

September division winners were Mary Louise Wirkus, Division 2, and Judy Thorson, Division 4.

Weekly best losers were Wirkus, week one; Betty Hanson, week two; and Hanson, week three.

Four-star winner was Hanson.

There was a veggie shower for Wirkus.

Quarterly division winners were Wirkus, Division 2; LeAnne Jones, Division 3; and Laureen Hohansee, Division 4.

KOPS in black were Peggy Indrelie and Nancy Jenson.

October division winners were Wirkus, Division 2, and Betty Gavle, Division 4.

Weekly best losers were Wirkus and Rose Rolands, week one; Barb Soper, week two; and Wirkus, week four.

Four star winner was Wirkus.

Lottery contest winners were Shirley Schuster and Frieda Johannsen.

Tops — take off pounds sensibly — is a nonprofit weight loss support group. There is no diet plan, but support with others on the journey to health and wellness. Tops MN Chapter 979 meets at 9 a.m. on Thursdays in the Albert Lea Senior Center in Skyline Plaza to weigh in and learn about healthy lifestyles.

Mansfield 4-H Club

The Mansfield 4-H Club met at 6 p.m. Nov. 12. The meeting was called to order by Vice President Taige Suhr. Roll call was taken. Four members, five adults and one guest were present. The secretary’s report was given and accepted, as was the treasurer’s report.

The group discussed helping the Kiester Fire Department with its annual fish fry. Awards were given, and officers were installed.

The group decided to have its spirit of Christmas meeting at the next meeting.

The meeting was adjourned.

The next meeting will be at 5 p.m. Dec. 3 at Raven Suhr’s home.

Duplicate Bridge

Six tables played duplicate bridge on Nov. 14 at the Senior Center in Austin. Winners were

Edna Knobbe and Rick Stroup, first place; Larry Crowe and Bill Momsen, second place; Lorraine Quinlivan and Barb Rofshus, third place; Joyce Crowe and Millie Seiver, fourth place; and Phillip and Lorraine Lippert, fifth place.

Eleven teams played duplicate bridge on Nov. 15 at the Senior Center in Austin. Winners were

Lorraine Quinlivan and Barb Rofshus, first place; Barb Grinstead and Millie Seiver, second place; Tom Flaherty and Stan Schultz, third place; Gail and Ray Schmidt, fourth place; and Loren Cleland and Bud Higgins, fifth place.

Duplicate bridge is played weekly at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and noon on Wednesdays at the Senior Center in Austin. Players come from Adams, Albert Lea, Austin, Rose Creek and Northwood and Mason City. Duplicate bridge is open to all players. If you need a partner, call 437-2750.   

A Christmas party is scheduled at 11 a.m. Dec. 13 at the Senior Center. Those who plan to attend are asked to bring a snack or a dessert. Pizza will be provided.
