Alice DeBoer

Alice was born to Arent and Sietsche (Molenaar) Ravenhorst in Pease on Feb. 1, 1926. She grew up in Hollandale, where she was a lifelong member of the Hollandale Reformed Church. She married Harko DeBoer on Sept. 10, 1945, in Hollandale. In her early years, she enjoyed singing in the choir, playing the guitar and traveling the area to perform with her friends. She continued to enjoy singing with Alice Godeke. She attended Ruth Circle, volunteered in the church kitchen and was part of a post-church coffee circle with family and friends. She enjoyed reading, listening to hymns, feeding and watching her birds and tending to her yard and garden at her rural Hollandale farm. In her later years, she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great- grandchildren, whom she frequently watched. She could sit for hours with a baby grandchild or great-grandchild, often singing to him or her. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, and she almost always had fudge, pudding or waffles ready for their visits. She spent her final years at Oak Park Assisted Living and Memory Care in Albert Lea. Her family would like to thank the staff for their care and kindness.
