Nancy Renae Bixby, 60, of Wells died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Mary Iverson. Nancy was born March 20, 1957, the daughter of Roy and Clara (Nesje) Knudtson in Albert Lea. She grew up in Kiester and graduated from Kiester High School with the class of 1976.

She married her soulmate David Bixby on June 11, 1977, and they recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year.

Nancy worked in Owatonna for 17 years at Viracon, but Nancy’s passion in life was being a mom. S

he was the best mother and the foundation in her family’s life and her children loved her immensely. She gave the best hugs, was selfless, always giving and never asked anything in return, and would always put others needs before her own; she was a real angel on this earth.

Nancy was a hard worker and her favorite time of the year was when she could start decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas.

She loved spending time with her family, especially her mom. She enjoyed dancing, attending concerts, the simple things in life — sunrises and sunsets, cooking and baking (she made the best banana bread and macaroni salad), and doing everyday stuff with her husband, David.

Nancy made a big impact on many people and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her father, Roy; daughter, Anna Lea; and aunt, Joann Nesje.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 40 years, David Bixby, of Wells; mother, Clara Satre, of Wells; children Justin Bixby (wife, Jen Quick) of Redwood City, California, Dana Bixby (fiance, Michael Buschman) of Albert Lea and Jennifer Bixby (fiance, Trent Kotasek) of Wells; two step-grandchildren, Trinity and Halo Buschman; a grand-dog, Chester; siblings Rory (wife, Ona) Knudtson of Kiester, Nadine (Paul) Haukoos of Kiester and Evonne (Fred) Baluski of Ruso, North Dakota; stepsister, Linda Engebretson, of Bricelyn; stepbrother, David (Colleen) Satre, of Bricleyn; sisters-in-law Barb Stratton and Josrene Klocek; brother-in-law, Tom (wife, Cindy) Bixby; special friends Val Stafford and Karen Thompson; along with many nieces, nephews and their families.
