The Tigers started the day with a 44-26 victory over Wayzata. Nic Cantu, Caleb Talamantes, Jake Johnsrud, Brody Nielson and Zach Glazier all recorded pinfalls in the opening dual.

Albert Lea came out and absolutely dominated in its next two duals, only losing two matches total.

The Tigers beat Tartan 78-6 in their second dual, and they beat Blue Earth Area 73-3. Throughout those two duals, the Tigers recorded 17 pinfalls and one major decision.

The Tigers came out of their pool as the No. 1 seed and would match up against No. 11 Cambridge-Isanti for the first place spot.

Although the championship dual would be the closest of the day for the Tigers, they would still win by double digits.

Albert Lea cruised to the victory with pinfall wins from Cole Glazier, Cantu, Brody Nielson, Zach Glazier and Brady Nielson, and a major decision from Johnsrud.

Head coach Paul Durbahn had high praise for the Cambridge-Isanti team after the dual and has the Albert Lea team looking toward its next competition.

“That Cambridge-Isanti team we beat was very tough,” he said. “Our kids are working hard and we’re gearing up this week for Military Appreciation Night on Thursday at home.”

Thursday will be the Tigers’ first home meet of the season, as they host their annual Military Appreciation Night.

The 8-0 Tigers will have duals against No. 15 Faribault and Mankato East, starting at 5 p.m.
