No injuries were reported.

Upon arrival, firefighters and law enforcement found smoke coming from roof vents and worked to extinguish the fire.

Due to limited access to the attic, crews reportedly had to remove part of a ceiling in a bedroom to gain access to the space and were on scene for approximately 2 1/2 hours extinguishing hot spots and removing burned insulation, according to the press release.

Fire damage was primarily limited to the attic space, the release stated.

The electrical fire reportedly occurred after a family member noticed a ceiling fan in an upstairs bedroom fall and breakers malfunction in that area of the home earlier in the day.

Online property records list Mark Claassen as the primary taxpayer of the address.

Albert Lea police and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted on scene.

The Fire Department encouraged residents to check their smoke alarms monthly and to change the batteries in alarms every six months.
