Gophers top Eastern Michigan at home, 80-56

The University of Minnesota women’s basketball team had four players score in double figures as it beat Eastern Michigan 80-56 on Sunday. Bryanna Fernstrom shined for the Gophers (8-1) with a season-high 17 points off the bench, and added nine rebounds.
Also coming off the bench, Taiye Bello had a season-high 16 points and eight rebounds. Kenisha Bell had a game-high 18 points, and Carlie Wagner had 12.
Minnesota outrebounded the Eagles (2-5) 53-42 and outshot them 46.3 percent to 28.2 percent. Destiny Pitts led the maroon and gold in rebounding with 10. The Gophers had 26 assists on 31 field goals, including five apiece from Wagner, Pitts and Gadiva Hubbard.
Game notes
Minnesota’s 26 assists were a season high. The Gophers have outrebounded their last eight opponents. With her 91st career game scoring in double figures, Wagner moved into third place alone on Minnesota’s career list in that category. She is one game ahead of Janel McCarville. Pitts has six double-digit rebound games as a freshman.
