Morris Levorson, 1926-2017

Morris Irving Levorson, 91, of Lake Mills passed away Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. today at Salem Lutheran Church, 401 S. Lake St., in Lake Mills. The Rev. David Emmons will officiate. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 E. Main St., in Lake, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Somber Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lake Mills. Military rites will be performed by Lake Mills Otto/Chose American Legion Post No. 235.

Morris Levorson

Morris Irving Levorson was born April 2, 1926, in Worth County, to parents John and Elma (Hagen) Levorson. He was baptized and confirmed at Somber Lutheran Church. He graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1944.

He was united in marriage to Truly Irene Ellingson on Nov. 11, 1944, at Bristol Lutheran Church in rural Joice, Iowa. They were blessed with 65 years together. Truly passed away on Oct. 7, 2009.

Morris served his country in the United States Army AirCor during World War II. He farmed for many years and enjoyed flying his airplane. He retired from Deluxe Products/Fleetguard Industries in 1989 after working there for 30 years. During his retirement years he enjoyed driving and delivering Winnebago Motor Homes, traveling, was always on the lookout for a new airplane to purchase, and was delighted to have received a prescription from his Mayo doctor for dancing, as it was a passion of his.

Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Marcia Turvold of St. Louis, Ron (Gail) Levorson of Albert Lea and Medara (Bart) Winter of Lake Mills; grandchildren Nina Matuszewski of St. Louis, Nicole (Ted) Liebig of St. Louis, Matthew (Carissa) Levorson of Albert Lea, Kessa (Alex) Meyer of Des Moines, Iowa, Tyler Olson of Lake Mills and Natalie Simonet of Minneapolis; great-grandchildren Aurianna Turvold of Kalamazoo Michigan; Miranda Matuszewski of St. Louis, Grant Liebig of St. Louis, Forrest Liebig of St. Louis, Parker Simonet of Minneapolis and Penelope Simonet of Minneapolis; sister, Ila Mae Anderson of Minneapolis; brother, Mervin Levorson of Clarion, Iowa; a very special friend, Marge Golbuff of Mason City, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Morris was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Truly; and infant grandson, Chad Turvold.
