Probation for man who had knife in courthouse

A Minneapolis man who had a knife earlier this year in the Freeborn County Courthouse was placed on probation for up to five years Thursday in Freeborn County District Court.
Joseph Allen Deleon, 29, was sentenced after he pleaded guilty in May to felony possessing a weapon in a courthouse complex. He was sentenced to 152 days in jail and was given credit for 152 days served.
Court documents state Deleon was charged after an Albert Lea officer made contact with him April 3 at court services in connection with a probation violation after being advised Deleon had tested positive for methamphetamine and needed to be taken into custody, Deleon said he had a blade in his possession, and a black and red knife with a 4-inch long curved blade was removed from his left-back pants pocket.
In a separate file, Deleon was placed on probation for up to five years for fifth-degree controlled substance possession. In that file, he was sentenced to 166 days in jail and was given credit for 166 days served.
