NORTHWOOD —  The Northwood-Kensett wrestling team went undefeated in its home tournament Saturday.

Northwood-Kensett recorded victories over Humboldt, Tripoli, Rockford and Belmond-Klemme on its way to grabbing the Vikings tournament title.

The Vikings’ second dual, against the Broncos, was their closest matchup of the day. The final score had the Vikings on top by just one point, after avoiding a pinfall in the final match to secure the victory.

Freshman Bryce Paulson, sophomore Gideon Rollene, junior Logan Benjegerdes and senior Marcus Brandt each finished the day 4-0. Each of them would record at least one pinfall, with Rollene notching two.

Sophomore Caden Schrage and juniors Samuel Kliment and Gavin Varner each went 3-1. Varner won all three of his matches by fall.

Senior Jeff Yezek finished 1-3 with one fall.

The Vikings move to 8-7 in dual action on the season and will return to action Tuesday when they travel to North Union.
