1. Prairie Fire

Sibley Elementary School students are teaming up with Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre again this year to serve up a performance of an original adaptation of “Alice in Wonderland.” Students have rehearsed all week and will show the results twice at Southwest Middle School’s little theater: once at 7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.

2. Met Opera

Politics and romance make a lethal combination in “Tosca,” the Metropolitan Opera showing at 11:55 a.m. Saturday at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. An escaped Roman prisoner seeks refuge in a church. The play follows his pursuit and relationship with his lover, Tosca, as the two attempt to escape with their lives.

3. Gourmet Food Auction

Friday night’s easy dinner option is to have others cook for you. This year’s Gourmet Food Auction runs from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club. Sample the cuisine of several Freeborn County chefs before a live auction, in which you can bid on food items you sampled earlier in the evening. Proceeds go toward the 2018 Education Days at Big Island Rendezvous and Festival.

4. Rock on ice

A reschedule means there’s still a chance to catch the outdoor rock on ice beginning at 7 p.m. Friday. There will be a live DJ, hot chocolate and outdoor activities. Come to Hayek Park with your skates.

5. Fit for Kids

In the finale of January’s Fit for Kids event, The Meraki Studios will lead yoga adventures at Northbridge Mall for children 5 and younger. The event is free and runs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
