Business refocuses in new year

With the ringing of a new year, Pantheon Computers is taking a new direction by focusing its resources on its commercial customers.

According to Pantheon president and owner Jon Stagman, the company has started sharing a space with Intego Financial Group, but customers shouldn’t expect there to always be a member of his staff available to address their concerns.

“We’re not really a walk-in business,” Stagman said.

Pantheon Computers, which has its home office in Waseca, will field the businesses calls and dispatch personnel if the customer has a problem that cannot be handled remotely.

Pantheon is one of many IT firms that is moving toward providing businesses with managed services. For one flat fee, it takes care of all the companies’ IT needs. This could range from coming in to set up computers, server administration, network and security issues and back-up services, among others. Pantheon can either be the business’s entire IT department, or can help provide supplemental services to larger companies that already have a designated IT person on staff.

Stagman said the process generally starts with a discovery day when he goes to the business to see how IT is integrated into the company.

“When we get in there and really listen to the whole story, it’s very rarely about ‘How many computers do we need?’ or ‘Does that server need upgrading?’ but rather trying to figure out how those systems that are in place to make their businesses more efficient,” he said. “You have to listen with a very keen ear to understand what their business processes are and how IT can really help them.”

The company can also provide product sales, but the focus of the company is service. Stagman said it’s a contrast to PC Doctors, which closed at the end of 2017.

“Residential service work is very transactional,” he said. “Business transactions are more about building a relationship.”

Pantheon Computers has four different offices and services eight different communities all within about a 45-mile radius of Waseca.

Future plans for Pantheon include expanding to serve the Mankato area.
