5 things to do this weekend

1. Valentine’s dance

Why celebrate just once? Saturday’s Valentine’s dinner and dance at the Albert Lea American Legion provides another opportunity to recognize Cupid’s holiday. Social hour begins at 5 p.m., followed by dinner and a dance (“Cupid Shuffle” not guaranteed).

2. Open house/fundraiser

Farm Bureau Financial Services is throwing open the doors for an open house from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday. There will be prizes, games and food. The open house will also double as a fundraiser for the Humane Society of Freeborn County.

3. Wine tasting

Out of wine this weekend? Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits says pinot way! To gear up for National Drink Wine Day, which is Sunday, Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits will host a wine-tasting from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Chardon-yay!

4. Blood drive

Friday is the end of a vampire’s favorite week: a blood drive week. The American Red Cross will be at First Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday for anyone willing to donate blood.

5. Prairie Fire Theatre performance

Prairie Fire Theatre is back in town and partnering with Lakeview Elementary School for their performance of “Alice in Wonderland” at 7 p.m. Friday. The show will be at the Albert Lea High School auditorium.
