South Central College in Mankato was the site for the FFA agriculture mechanics career development event on Feb. 9. Out of 12 teams, Albert Lea came in first with 494 points ahead of New Ulm’s 445 points. Albert Lea also took the top three spots in the individual events.
The event places emphasis on the way students work with others, access information, solve complex problems, select an appropriate technology and apply the principles of science. The agricultural mechanics career development event balances problem solving abilities with knowledge, skills and experience. These abilities are evaluated for students working together as a team and for each student working independently.
